I believe I have a problem with the back on my Tachihara leaking light. From the last box of slides I have 2 with slight fogging, only affecting the image area the edges covered by the film holder have not been affected. In both the sun was quite strong. (My first thoughts were flare or internal reflection)

I've put a light inside the camera and with all my darkslides I get a small amount of light showing around the edges between the slide and back.

What my question boils down to, is this to be expected with wooden cameras, or Tachiharas in general? Am I expecting too much from a wooden camera for it to be absolutely 100% light tight?

I've only had the camera about 3 months so I'm well placed to return it under guarantee. I'm currently of a mind to return it, but wanted the opinions of more experienced users first.

As always,

Thanks

Hello!

I have an 8x10 Tachi and there is no leaks also have a couple older ones of other fabricate and no leak at all! But it's not excaptable and you should change it under the garantie! Howwever holders do leak too and as you describe the situation it must be the camera! Observe that I had some holder which was deforrmed and that coused a leak because the back could not push the holder down! But this kind of faliure shows only with those which are deformed and not all of your holders!
So my advice that you check out your system carefuly to be sure what is the problem!

I hope that I helped you to think!

Thanks, pretty much what I expected to hear really. I'll repeat the tests just to fully satisfy myself and I expect I'll be sending it back.

Regards

Thanks, I haven't taken the gg out at any point, so this is unlikely to be a problem but I will check that it is seated properly.

Rgds

I had a light leak problem once, I discovered I put the GG on wrong when switching from portrait to landscape. Make sure you have the back on right

Thought I'd give an update.

I returned the Tachihara to Robert White and upgraded to an Ebony. Not what I really wanted to use my spare cash on at this point in time what the hey.

I have to comment on how good Robert White's after sale service has been, very smooth and painless. What more can anyone ask for.
