The only reason I'm getting rid of this one is that I've come across a Polaroid 450 that I like a bit better. Sorry to interrupt your sale but I just got a musty old Polaroid 450 (and a 250) with an odd lot of stuff. What is it useful for?

No problem Mike.The Land Camera 100 series will accept Fuji packfilms, these give a bigger image (and negative) then the polaroid 600 films. I'm just starting to dabble around with these packfilms, but it is relatively easy to get the negatives to a printable stage.

I went to that page and entered the serial number you provided, and no specifications were listed. It says that "Your camera is probably an SX-70 model 2 or Alpha 2." Is it safe to assume that this camera cannot be used with electronic flash?

Chazzy: I am unsure whether or not an electronic flash can be used, I will try to look into it though.

The SX-70 is a marvel of a camera and better than most realize. I've got a number of Polaroid cameras in storage including a coiple of the manual focus SX-70s and when I used to shoot them on a tripod I found them truly to have great potential. While we morn the loss of a film series such as Reala and Kodachrome, for me the sad day was when Polaroid closed down film making.

I believe that the alpha models used higher quality lenses

I have an SX-70 (original model) that came with a specially made Nissin electronic flash unit. The unit's model name is FP70x. It clamps to the bottom of the camera and has a handy tripod socket. Works very well. I just got a pack of the Impossible Project's PX 70 Push! color shade 100 ASA film and will be trying it out carefully with and without flash (paying attention to all the warnings on the IP website!).
I'm curious to see what develops, so to speak.

The camera definitely can be used with electronic flash. As others have mentioned, the SX-70 was one of the best cameras ever made. The loss of the TZ Supercolor film was the sad end of a great era.

model 3 can't be used with flash, because it's a rangefinder.
(though there should be a socket on top of the viewfinder?)
original, alpha (I) and model 2 have a socket for flash on top of the lens.
