Afternoon All,

I picked up one of these very cheap after seeing a few people saying they're hideous but vary capable P&s and would like something with a dependable flash (not you XA2 + A11) that I could just have in a backpack or takeout with me when I don't want to use my SLR.

Been testing it out this morning, stupidly put in a fresh roll without doing so first and lost a few shots, and everything seems to work as expected other than the film advance mechanism. If i take a shot, the shutter fires and it makes the noise as if the motor is turning, but does not always actually advance the film. It seems as if the camera is clever enough to know that the film has not advanced, so if i close and open the lens cover, it will try again. I can do this until it eventually catches and advances, but it seems very inconsistent.

I've found a teardown for this model and I ain't against opening it up and having a poke around, especially as I think I may do the foil under the shutter button trick, but I was wondering if anyone had encountered a similar problem as this and if there's any quick fixes before I start taking things apart.

A suggestion is to check and see if the transport gear will stop if you turn it as though it were
rewinding the film. Hopefully thumb pressure is all it should take.
The take up RW/gear is next to the film gate.

Much like the advance, somedoes does, sometimes doesn't. Always tries though. I very much seems like a gear has worn down or been misaligned or something in there
