Hi Guys

What's the best tripod and tripod head to use with an RZ?
In your opinions.
I feel my current tripod head isn't supporting me enough!
This makes me sad.

I cant say its the best Holly but I'm using a Bogen 3021 with a 3047 head. I'm sure the legs are plenty strong enough but I need to use the rig with my 360mm lens some more to decide on the head. So far though I think its ok.

I've got Giotto legs and a manfrotto head. You might want to check the threads in the LF forum. Anything that will work for a LF camera should be fine for the RZ.

Hi Holly,

I'm happy with a Manfrotto (Bogen to the American bogans) 190D with a Manfrotto 410 geared head. This works for my Wista field 4x5 as well. The geared head is not so pricy and is a joy to use.

Should you find yourself shooting straight downwards the Manfrotto horizontal bar (adding a counterweight), or macro, Manfrotto has horizontal bars or incremental geared sliders that fit into this system too.

Mine came from Vanbar in Sydney.

It seems that one item that digital won't supercede is a good tripod.

Regards - Ross

I use a Manfrotto 3021PRO with a 3030 Head

Even my 3001 Bogen with 3029 head works great...! I added a quick release setup so it's always ready to go...very sturdy!

Manfrotto 055XDB with Manfrotto 410 geared head.
For anything from heavy D upto Shen Hao 4x5.
Great combination !

Peter
