Superia X-tra 400 set to disappear from sale in Japan

Fuji has recently updated its film lineup in Japan (the one country where their lists are kept regularly updated). https://fujifilm.jp/personal/jan/color.html?pSch501010101

The revised consumer colour negative lineup is;
- Fujicolor 100 in 36/27exp
- Fujicolor Superia Premium 400 in 36/27exp
- Fujicolor Superia Venus 800 in 36/24exp

The main change is the Superia X-tra 400 3 packs have disappeared. These were the cheapest option with Premium 400 a Japan specific version of X-tra 400 costing c60% more. There is no official discontinuation notice. This completes a split from the official Europe/US lineup of;
- Fujicolor C200 in 36exp
- Fujicolor Superia X-tra 400 in 36 exp.
(Venus 800 also available in Europe as a parallel import)
 
Superia X-tra 400 is going away. Doesn't matter how many exposures or what packaging.
Stores in Japan have them on sale now as single rolls. Limited to 3 rolls per customer here in Tokyo.
 
10 bucks for 3 36 exp. rolls of Superia 400 at B&H. I shoot Kodak Portra for color negative, am I missing something? I was a Fujichrome Provia F fan before Ektachrome disappeared (the 1st time) I hope Fuji keeps this in the pipeline. I'm mostly 120, still stinks to see favorites go away.
 
Does this pertain to individual 36 exposure rolls too?
 
Grim. Superia X-tra 400 is Fuji's best selling film in the UK and I'll bet elsewhere too. Hard to believe that Premium 400 and Venus 800 outsell X-tra.
 
Superia X-tra 400 in 120 was one of my favorite color negative films - I tended to expose it @ISO200

Is superia Xtra a better film than premium? If not and we have the choice, it makes sense to keep premium. Having said that I like the way it looks in 120.
 
To clarify some queries above - This is in Japan only. Superia X-tra 36exp single rolls had already been axed in Japan leaving 36x3packs only. Fuji have now discountinued these as well in Japan.

Superia Premioum 400 is a Japan specific version of X-tra 400 optimised for Japanese skin tones plus some other improvements.

By way of a cost comparison at Yodobashi - X-tra 400 3 pack is 1640 yen (£12.50) and Premium 400 2700 yen (£20.40). Even Fujicolor 100 is 1760 yen (£13.33) In comparison Kodak Ultramax 400 is 3600 yen (£27) for 3 rolls! So this just means more profit for Fuji assuming an inelastic price/demand response.

Outside of Japan X-tra 400 is remains on sale in 36exp single rolls (europe) and/ or 3 packs (US only).
 
It’s very odd indeed. I would’ve thought premium 400 and Venus go first. All I can say is that the signs in the stores here clearly say “production of this film has been discontinued” same label as Acros 100.

My two cents worths: I was told by Fuji Ireland that eventually there will be only one film, a 400 speed.
 
I’ve photographed white people with Superia Premium before and they looked fine to me. Lol.
Advertising BS in my opinion.
 
Premium is a much better film than X-tra with really good skin tones (with Euro skin) and it does great things with reds. However, I have to buy it from Japanese ebay sellers. If X-tra stops being made altogther then maybe there's scope for unoffical imports of Premium by shops like what is happening with Venus since Superia 800 was axed. Perhaps X-tra really is an unpopular film in Japan...
 
Yeah, worse comes to worse, most Walmart’s in the US have three packs of Fuji Xtra 400. In many towns, that’s the only local film you can buy.
