Super-Angulon 90mm 5.6 MC rear filter size

I believe it should be possible to mount a filter on the rear element of my Super-Angulon 90mm 5.6 MC , but I can't determine the filter size, and the threads seems so deep, as if a filter would touch the surface of the glass. The specifications say 82mm for the front, but no mention for the rear. Is there a way to mount a filter on the rear element? What size it should be?

Have you researched the issues associated with placing filters behind the lens?

... which are: focus shift and adding aberrations. For the first, focus with the filter in place. For the second there is really no cure, but thinner, better quality filters minimize the aberrations introduced. Gels are best.

I once had a Super-Angulon 90mm 5.6 and attached Hoya or similar 67mm filter behind it without any noticeable degradation in image quality. There might have been a slight loss of coverage, however, I don't remember it being an issue for me (using 4x5).

However, the filters didn't screw in (can't remember whether the thread was too deep, or thread a bit too large). So I created a 'holder' that held the filter in position. The holder consisted of a rubber band that, when stretched, slipped over the rear element. Three rubber arms (think of them as being miniature 'octopus straps') were attached to the rubber band at none end, and, at the other end, had hooks that clipped onto the rim of the filter. Crude, but it worked quite well.

Consider posts above, and put it on the front - Also, with the SA the filter size in not that different anyway - Also I don't think that the rear thread of the SA is a standard filter thread, I understand it is there for the rear elephant retaining ring only

So, leave the rear alone and keep it clean, dirt and damage on the rear end of the lens is far more image degrading than things in the front - Note that the Hbd SWC instruction manual is very specific on this point

The reason I thought to mount a filter on the rear element was to protect it, as only lately I noticed that most of my lenses are protected with UV filters, accept...my most expensive one. All these thoughts came to me after I mounted on its front an 82mm filter I found on special, including a Schneider cap. And thanks for the feedback.
