I have been photographing some people today outside in bright semi-overcast conditions.

I exposed Ilford FP4 at 80ASA. Aculux2 label suggests 7.5 minutes for FP4 - any suggestions about time when exposed at 80ASA - I was thinking of reducing to 6.5 minutes?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

Sorry that I'm not directly answering the question but please try it with Pyrocat-HD. Tames the highs so well on this film. A marriage made in heaven...

I recently tried FP4+ at EI 80 in Aculux2 for 6 minutes (35mm) and it was very flat and dull. I have also tried FP4+ at EI 64 in Aculux2 for 7.5 minutes and though it was a little over exposed in look the highlights to my surprise were not blown out. Therefore, my guess is that 7 minutes would be ideal. My agitation is 10 secs per minutes doing 2 full rotations of the tank.

Let us know how you get on. FP4+ and Aculux2 is beautifully creamy and a nice combo.

Normal development

FP4+ is a long straight line, and it's just 2/3 of stop ... you'll never notice.

Matt, with lighting conditions as you have given them, I would think that a bit more development is in order. Since a "normal" development is geared to "normal" light (full sun, isn't it?), a reduced level of contrast due to light conditions would merit a bit more development. Since I don't use your film-developer combination, I can't give a time. The suggestion of Pyrocat made by Peter is a good one, the next time you need to buy developers. Best, tim
