Cross-posting from the LFPhoto forum, hoping to attract a few more responses from those familiar with the area: I will be visiting the North East corner of Spain & South West corner of France this summer, taking 4x5. Wondered if anyone had any experience in these areas, or useful suggestions. Sandy King said that with the heat and sun, I should try to do a lot of indoor photography, that many public buildings and churches in Spain permitted the use of tripods. Again, anyone have any experience along these lines? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

The works of Antonio Gaudi alone should take up all your time. Then there is Las Rombalas [spelling?] with the flower vendors in Barcelona.

I would have a look at Besalu and the Cadaquez area, both around 100 kilometers north of Barcelona. I used tripods at several Gaudi locations in Barcelona, and never had a problem. The sun can be quite intense indeed, so you might have to wake up early.
La Rambla is the main street in Barcelona; no cars so plenty of place for a big camera.

In France Lourdes is a great place to shoot (photos of) people; there is an altar which according to them has magical healing effect on the disabled and you see a lot of people giving it a try..

I agree that Barcelona should keep you interested for some time. There are so many different aspects to the place that it may be a little overwhelming. If you get a chance visit the Dali museum in Figueres (?) which is to the north of Barcelona. I believe that much of the coast in this area is fairly inspirational stuff as well but I ran out of time because I couldn't pull myself away from Barcelona.
