I'm using up my frozen stash of J&C Pro 100 120. Are there any comparable substitutes? Open to suggestions. Is the Adox similar?

I really like the look of that film developed in 1:1 D-76 and enlarged on Ilford Warmtone FB.

Isn't it either forte or foma 100?

If I am correct, this film was repackaged Foma and still available as such.

You can also use Plus-X, FP-4, & Efke/Adox 100.

Or, you could go the t-grain route for a bit of a different look with T-Max 10, Delta 100, or Fuji Across.

D-76 1+1 perform well on most films made.

No, the pro100 was made in China, and was neither Foma nor Forte.

This was the film that shipped and a batch had to be returned as it was cut oversized. A very kind Moderator gave me a pack when I bought a 210mm Symmar from him, thanks again JDC

Unfortunately the J&C site is now defunct as they have stopped trading, so no data is available for the film. APUG has not yet removed the dead J&C link from its system.

You're correct, the 200 and 400 speeds were made by Forte in Hungary but the 100 was always something different. On the Retro Photographic site (a UK mail order business) they comment, "This film has a real '50's' feel to it, with its thicker backing paper and wonderful tonality". They can still supply it in 120 rollfilm only. The general consensus seems to be it hails from China. I thought it might be Shanghai GP3 but the packaging and backing paper seem to be different, unless that changed at some point. It doesn't seem to be Lucky. A mystery!

It had that blue color base and seemed to curl easy. The J&C pro 100 sheet film in 8X10 had the same color base. There was no seal at the end and you had to use some masking tape to close the roll. But it was good stuff and very cheap to use in folders, etc. I think J&C said it was not Lucky in the discussions.

I was afraid of that. That 50's look is so beautiful for what I'm doing right now. Which is doing portrait style photographs of my kids robotic animals. If I get them scanned, I'll post a sample. I'll look into the Forte and the Retro Photographic site.

And the curl drives me crazy!!!

Any suggestions as to a substitute close to the same look? What do you all think about the ADOX? it's a bit tighter isn't it?

Sorry Jim I didn't see you recommended Adox 100. I give that a shot.

I think the GP3 is the same as what was sold as J&C Classic 100 roll film. I bought a bunch years back and froze it but I'm running short. It looks the same with heavy black backing, lousy frame # on paper, non-stick tape to seal the roll, and covers from recycled "Little Red Books." I guess I'll have to break down and order some soon and try it.

That looks like it :http://www.frugalphotographer.com/cat120.htm $1.99 a roll.

Shanghai GP3

I was about to say Shanghai GP3. The price for 50 rolls in Dead Link Removed eBay store is $74.13, but when one include the $29 flat shipping rate and maybe, some import duty it looks like that the $89 price of "The Frugal Photographer" for the same quantity, is much better. Otherwise I like the film for the price.
