I have a CF80 that I use on my 500cm that has an odd issue. Although the lens mounts and dismounts fine and functions correctly, when it is cocked and off the camera, pushing the little lock/release pin does not fire the shutter and the pin seems loose.
I am surprised that that lens works as I was under the assumption that the pin is pushed by the corresponding pin on the body when mounted which then allows the camera to activate the shutter via the screw. My thought was that if the pin on the lens is not functional then either the lens would not stay cocked off the camera or would not fire. Since the lens is functioning I am loathed to send it off for repair or remove the back plate to check myself.
All my other lenses work as expected in that the cocked shutter is released when the lens is off the camera by moving the lock pin.
An internet search doesn't find any reference to this type of behavior.
Thank you both, I'll give it a try, I have had the lens from new in 1991 and there was quite a long period where it wasn't exercised much at all until I started up with film again.
I work under the philosophy to "use things as they are intended/designed to be used". Manually tripping the release is different that releasing it on the camera. On the camera there is some drag exerted by the camera body mechnaism. In this case I'd avoid manually tripping if you want to avoid the need for servicing.

My Hasselblad repairman recommends, and I follow, firing every lens 10 to 15 times at 1 second every three months to avoid needing the lenses worked on. I have my computer/iPhone calendar to remind me.
The lens does fire with the pin pushed and a slight movement of the key, so seem like cleaning and lubrication is needed. Everyone's insight much appreciated!
