I know this has been addressed in some older threads, but as the thermometer climbs over 100F in chilly New England, my thoughts wander to the nice expensive box of TMAX400 I have sitting in my un-airconditioned house. I probably won't be using for the next couple of weeks. One of the inner packages is opened, the other is not.

I have previoulsy frozen film with mixed results. While I always placed the box in a freezer bag and squeezed all the air out I have had at least several ruined sheets due to condensation and I am wondering which is worse, leaving the film out all summer (even if I am using it on a fairly regular basis) or going the fridge or freezer route and risking condensation. If I do use the fridge/freezer and advice on avoiding condensation when I do so. It is very humid here now.

Dear Paul,

Leave it out. If you use it in the next few months it ain't going to matter. And having it conveniently available is a LOT better than having to wait for it to come to room temperature.

This is based on some decades of experience including varying periods in warm countries -- plus Ilford's own advice.

Cheers,

Roger (www.rogerandfrances.com)

Cat litter will absorb any moisture that is trapped in the ziplock bag. Just put a handful in with the film box and squeeze out all the air you can.
