The Film Dev Cookbook (Anchell + Troop) mentions alkaline/neutral stops, possibly using a strong concentration of an antifoggant like Benzotriazole-also Barry Tornton came up with one-anybody out there experimented along these lines?

I think the best stop for film is distilled water with an alkaline fixer.

Not in stop baths, but in developers.

I think Anchell&Troop mentioned that as a possibility only...

It is a lot easier and cheaper to factor in the added development in the water wash, and avoid using even more chemicals.

When I recently used acid fix (and acid stop) for the first time in years, all my prints were underdeveloped. Next time I'll remember that, and only use acid stuff when I have to (e.g. lith printing).
