Harman has been THE essence of stability up until this week.
After a factory visit to Mobberley last year, my wife (who will be the first to admit she is no business woman) commented that most skilled staff and directors appeared older people, and wondered who would have the specialist knowledge to run the business when they retired.
Only in your perception...
Smoke and mirrors they were a management buy out, it is normal for such to end in a sell off.
The bankruptsy of the parent left them with site lease exposure, which has come home to roost.
It need not be any worse than it was.
You need to plan for change, in life, climate, etc.
Yes it would, because if I am unsure of how secure Harmon is, I am unsure how secure the future of film is. This lack of security may lead me to sell off my film cameras as they are VERY expensive and I dont want them to be rendered useless or too expensive to use.
If Harman seems unstable, I am less likely to stay shooting film.

essence of stability ???
No, not even by a long shot.
The cat is totally out of the bag and you are still debating
Ilford, Kodak and Fuji are not the protagonist in the film story, especially not in 2015.
Since APUG is not the place to exercise analog photographers personal freedoms, the buck stops here.
...Tally up how many emulsions Fujifilm has discontinued, how many emulsions and papers that Kodak has discontinued and compare them to how many Ilford has eliminated and see which company is more stable.
Thanks for that. I like a good laugh as much as the next man.
That's how you gain market share.
99% commenters here are employees, not business owners so it's a long shot to get it and that's fine.
Smoke and mirrors? Your post is profoundly offensive.
Does not seem practical, enlargers are still free to take away here, I even got a free NOS 75mm lens, trying to get into a glut market seems incautious. Here's an idea -Pemberton could add clarity to this themselves. Go out and buy Devere and possibly make a few new affordable enlargers series. :-D
Or draft up a statement with agreement between ex and current management that addresses concern here.
Don't need to be hyperbolic or optimistic etc. .
Many businesses do that when they need to assert continuity, Ilford has a really good connect with users here, to not take advantage of it is bad marketing!

You dont know much about Ilford do you? Simon used to promise that "Ilford would be THE last one standing" in the film world.
That's pretty clear and unambiguous.
This comes true for the whole industry.
A delicate issue I hinted at repeatedly. Soon there will be the big bang.
I could be wrong, but I haven't actually seen many attacks on Simon in these threads.
I see diversification/product expansion in that statement.
I have a question. Why did Harman always report their revenues? They may have even made some statements of their profitability. Does UK law require that?
The sale and loss of a few directors doesn't necessarily invalidate the "last man standing" statement.
Only time will tell

Nothing scans like Portra 160. I shoot a LOT of Fujifilm and none of their films come close. If you are not seeing it, then you have low quality scans. Portra sets the bar here and it is truly innovative.
