Should it be taken as a bad sign that the only two companies that are considered reputable enough to rebuild a Kiev camera are hartblei and Arax Foto. Or that Hartblei is none responsive to emails, and that Arax can only do repairs?

I presume we're talking about a Kiev 66 etc. rather than, say, a Kiev 4 or Kiev 30?

There was glut of Kievs on the market, over time new out box cameras ready for rebuild have dwindled, don't see how firms could stay in business with such a small inventory.

IIRC Hartblei bought all the stock and parts etc from the Kiev factory .
So it shouldn't be too much of a suprise that not many firm'd do rebuilds and repairs etc .

It's not like the independent repairer's can contact the original manufacturer to order parts up to repair your camera .

Once these bits run out , you would need to find someone capable of making replacement parts from scratch to repair your camera .
That might be economically viable for a Hasselblad , but a Kiev ?

As far as a lock of communication goes , the: the pandemic .
