I am going to build a tank for silver nitrate bath for wet plate collodion.

The tank is made of glass. For the dipper i have an idea of using 2mm stainless steel wire. Is stainless steel safe in silver nitrate or will it contaminate the bath?

For most commercial available tanks I have seen the dipper is made of plastic.

I think 316 grade might work, this is what EK recommended. You will end up with stains everywhere 😊

Glass.

Plastic is far more easy to make and maintain. Usually just need to regularly wipe down with alcohol.
The least amount of potential problems is best for a silver bath.
