squeegee board

I am looking for a squeegee board but it doesn't seem to be a common item among online resellers of darkroom accessories.
Do you know where I can by one or as an alternative what support do you guys use to squeegee your prints?

I use a piece of plexiglass, about a quarter inch thick. I bought it at a plexi supply store. They usually have either end pieces, or damaged ones. The one I use, which is about 28x34 had a small (2 inch) scratch on one side. I squeegee on the other side. I think I paid about 8 bucks.

Look at the big bargain sellers for plastic cutting boards, they are cheap and will last for ever.

I have a piece of plexi that I got at Home depot or Lowes for cheap because it wasn't a full piece.

I use a thick plate of glass.

I use 1/4' -3/8' plexi and have some 24x24 heavy plate-glass in case I need glass for some odd reason. They work great but you could also us a large piece of smooth Corian or glazed tile as well, however why bother, when you can get good glass so easily from a home center.

If you do use scrap of cut acrylic or glass pane, make sure you smooth the edges with a machinist three corner scraper, file or fine sandpaper so it doesn't ruin your prints' emulsion or cut you.

I use the plexi that forms the splashback of my sink.... designed it that way!

I use a piece of acrylic left over from a shower insert. I added a drip rail to the bottom that ends over the garbage can.

An Alternative - Sponge dry

Do you know where I can by one or as an alternative what
support do you guys use to ... ? Thanks, Thierry

As an alternative sponge dry. Any cleared clean area of
counter will do. A Sponge will draw water into it self.
I've some Photo Grade sponges but have found the
99 cent varieties to do well.

I've not tested but believe a sponge will soak up water
where a squeegee will not. Frankly I wonder why one
would bother to squeegee. I've never squeegeed but
have sponge dried many prints. Dan

I use a sheet of tempered glass.

Many years ago, the guy who maintained the Xerox machine in our office decided that it was necessary to replace the glass platten. He was throwing the old one away, so I snagged it.

Actually, I have two of these, one for squeegeeing prints, and the other for coating paper in Pt/Pd printing.
