I was told that Dartmoor is more pittoresque than Exmoor.

Could we do the Cornish coast and Dartmoor or would it be too much?

Whatever happens weather wise, I'd wish that we did not have a repeat of Anglesey's. Who's in charge of the weather this time?

:smile:

You wouldn't be kind enough to elaborate more on this comment Mealers? Only, I have always thought that Cuba was 'THE' destination when you have a camera in hand.

It would be good to hear why this was not the case fron someone who has experienced it.

Cheers

Stoo - Dont get me wrong Cuba is an amazing place to visit and photograph. Maybe if I went there just to take photographs (and not on holiday with the Mrs) I would feel different.
But watching the countryside fly by on the train while heading back to Plymouth made me realise just how lucky we are when it comes to variety of good photography locations in the UK.

The further west you go in Cornwall the narrower the peninsular gets, this gives easy access to both the north coast and south. St Ives would be a good base for this, in fact from here, any part of west cornwall can be reached easily : The Lizard, Godrevy, Penzance, Lands end, Cape Cornwall, Sennen area are all great locations with awesome coastal scenery.

However, Exmoor/North Devon sounds interesting as I've never been there and would find it hard to choose between the two.

Bill

One of the reasons I like west Cornwall is the option of having both coasts. If its blowing a gale on one side you can usually find a bit of shelter on the other with just as amazing scenery.

The North Devon coastline also has its gems, places like Hartland Quay for its rock formations or Clovelly which is a real old fishing village.

Delphine you jest :surprised:

In Anglesey there was a unanimous vote that Barry was sacked from his weather duties and one Ms Lopez was unanimously voted into the role :D:D

The fact that you were not present at the time is of little consequence. :rolleyes:

It looks like it Martin. The options seem to be Cornwall, Cornwall, Cornwall... or Devon... :wink:

Any additions to:
* West Cornwall (St Ives?)
* Mid/East Cornwall (Newquay?)
* North Devon (???)

Locals please feel free to suggest better bases - I don't know the area at all!

OK, do we want to add Exmoor & Dartmoor into the voting options?

Ah! Now I am understanding Mike! I agree on both counts. Travelling with the Wife in Cuba! I feel your photographic pain :D

and yes...we are so lucky, we are on such a beautiful Island.

Thanks for the explanation.

Cheers

Choice of venue (west country) looks really good. Somewhere with potential for big seas if a storm front kicks in - i.e. Atlantic coast of Cornwall - would be excellent. However, has a date been decided upon yet?

The agreed date is of more importance to me than the venue as I'll be driving from East Anglia. To be honest, Land's End isn't much different in driving terms from Ilfracombe from where I live - but I would need to be there on the correct weekend...!

All the best. Paul.

Is this our definitive list of locations for the vote?

West Cornwall
Mid Cornwall/Dartmoor
East Cornwall
North Devon/Exmoor

I thought North Devon and Dartmoor could be covered as one.

Feel free to speak up if you disagree :smile:

I will put up polls for these locations (and any more that anyone one else comes up with before then) and another poll for the date on Sunday night which we can leave to run for, say, two weeks before closing them.

Re: North Devon and Dartmoor.

Are you thinking about doing some photography or just driving around? Dartmoor would take you a lifetime and North Devon nearly a lifetime!
Choose just one and look at it properly :smile:

Cheers,
Neil.

Typo by me Neil :rolleyes:

Should have said North Devon and Exmoor

Thankfully Bob knew what I was trying to say :wink:

I am sure you are right about them both having a lifetimes worth of photographic potential - that’s the best and worst thing about photographing a place - its always an unfinished and on-going piece of work

Yes indeed you can keep going back to places like that as there is so much to do. No problems with showing you all some of the best bits in a weekend though :wink:

Neil.
