Hello,

Does any one have any experience with either of the 2 screens?

I have the standard matte screen currently and am looking to upgrade, primarily because I only use manual focus lenses with my camera.

Would appreciate any user inputs for either of the 2 screens, especially pertaining to how bad the black out is. I have some experience with the split screen with a microprism collar on 35mm. It was slightly distracting, but black out was the major problem I faced.

However, I imagine that it might be slightly less of a distraction on the larger viewfinder on the 645N.

Thanks!

My experience with the AB-82 has been that it is almost impossible to come by. I would love to have one, but I've been looking off and on for years and had no luck. It is the El Dorado of Pentax focusing screens.

I have the BA-61 which is the standard microprism focusing screen that came with the P67II and the BB-61 which is the split image version. It's easier for me to focus with the split image version but wont work with the 120mm soft focus and some of the telephotos where the microprism will. For critical focusing I also use the Pentax magnifier in conjunction with the above. The P67II is a manual focus camera.

If you collection of lens do not require the microprism, I would recommend using the split image version for manual focusing based on my experience.

Hi Tom,

Based on your description, looks like I should also get both screens.

My primary lens on my 645N is an 80mm, but I have other lenses in 180mm, 300mm and a 170-320 zoom.

Thanks.
