Good grief, I wish these manuals were written in a language resembling clear English. Anyways, here is what I am trying to figure out:

What make/type of synch cord do i need in order to slap my sb 800 onto a lightstand and in so doing using it off camera?

The manual makes mostly references to digital cameras, and I'm using the speedlight with the f 100.

On p. 111 of the speedlight manual it lists:

ttl remote cord sc-29
ttl remote cord sc-24

ttl-multi flash sync cord

etc. etc.

I'm confused.....

Buy a SC-17. It the previous version of SC-28.

SC-17 or 28 unless you want a working AF assist, then use the SC-29.

I'd take the 28 over the mostly identical 17, the 28 has the flip-lock setup of the newer flashes while the 17 uses the annoying screw-down locks.

I think you only need those expensive cables if you are using TTL though. I have a cable that turns it into a normal old PC type cable.

Though I could be wrong...

Thanks,

Will

Yep, you need the expensive cables for TTL. But why not get them, they're cheaper than a flashmeter and we're not shooting digi, so multiple test shots are out.
