Given that Polaroid pack film is no longer made, of what use is it?

Perhaps a nice piece for a museum.

One wonders how useful the Magnys ever were, even during their heyday (if one could even call it that).

As I write this, many outlets still have fresh FP-100C in stock, but you're right—the format will soon be gone forever.

It is basically a way to couple a camera for spooled film (which have inherently back parts protruding beyond the focal plane) to an instant packfilm back, by employing a relay optic.

I've always wanted one. I love shooting peel apart film and would just love one of those. I've have a back for my F5, but the results are so small.

Sounds like a cool collectors item or fun thing to play with (maybe an instax conversion?), not very useful nowadays but interesting whatsoever :D

I assume you mean that 1/1 instant back with fibre relay-optic.
Yes, my F5 back's image was 24x36mm. The Speed Magny enlarges the image.

As usual everthing has its price. The Speed Magny and similar devices give large instant photographs with the controls of an SLR, but are bulky or clumsy.

Hi

I have one and I used it quite a lot, but there still some draw backs etc: lost 5 stops of light and very heavy.

I can upload more photo if you guys want to know more about it

I found this Speed Magny 100-3 in the Hong Kong.

I've recently acquired a Speed Magny 100-3; anyone know how many were made? Anyone else have one?

As a side note: a german top level fashion photographer working with Nikons used Polaroid 35mm instant films for checking exposure and set-up.

Even if the relay optic does not introduce any light loss there still will be the loss by the great image magnification.

Hahaha nono it was referred to me screwing the quote function not your text :D
Thanks for the image! It looks quite good!

Thanks for sharing, I've never seen one for an F3. It is truly a museum piece. They were more popular with the Nikon F model in the late 1960's. I never knew anyone using one, we all used polaroid backs on our Hassy's or view cameras.

Thank you for sharing! Mine has a different door on it; I wonder if the original was lost or broken at some point. I will upload a shot of mine when I find some time.

I'm having trouble loading and using it; the film tabs are constantly ripping off. A friend on fb recommended I break off the spring tabs because they exert too much pressure on the Fuji cartridges; have you found that to be the case?
