Hi,

I am after a camera for the following needs:

Lenses from 38mm to 180mm

Movements: front rise and fall and shift

69 + 612 + 54 film

As rigid as possible and lightweight

Are the only two options the ebony SW45 and the very similar shen-hao FC45-IIA with bag bellows?
Or are there other options out there i am missing.

I would of course get the ebony in a shot as it fulfills all of my needs exactly but I would also like to know of any other similar options first..and of course the ebony is not cheap and I need two new lenses also!

Thanks,

Marc

Cheers martin,

Yes I actually spoke to mike walker on the phone today..a really nice guy.
The xl is basically similar to the ebony rsw45.very stable with rise swing tilt but no shift of any kind.

Whilst I wil not need shift for my landscape work I do need to have it as an option for interiors.
Walker did make a titan wide for a while that had rear shift but he no longer makes it so at the moment it is looking like the ebony SW45 at the moment.
All I really want i rise / fall and shift..no swings and tilts as I feel they will reduce stability of lens to film plane but it does not seem that camera is made!

The ebony is incredibly expensive over here..much more so than in continental europe or the states.

Marc-
not to sound like a smartass, but maybe you should look at building your own. Then you can get exactly what you need in the camera. Just get a set of replacement bellows (bag and normal) from something like a Shen Hao, and build the rest around them.

Another thought, have you looked at the Bulldog kit? It is a dedicated wide-angle 4x5 camera, with limited movements. They're fairly inexpensive, look quite well-made, and are pretty straightforward to assemble. I'm not sure if they have all the movements you're looking for, but they're a lot cheaper than an Ebony.
