from SLC Photographer Arrested- Tanya Ortega de Chamberlin

Hey you guys,
How did you find out before ME? I just talked to my Atty???
Thanks for the support!! APUG "rocks"!!
See you at Salgado.
Tanya

Legal closure is wonderful. I'm still waiting on a mess involving a traffic accident this spring. Your case was taken care of fast. I'm envious

Congratulations, Tanya! Too bad the settlement wasn't even more substantial.

Very nice.

It will be an honor to meet you on Friday.

It took me 2 1/2 years and a spit-load of money to defend a copyright violation...we finally settled out of court.

We should all stand up for our rights as photographers (not to mention just being Joe Public).

Way to go, Tanya. On behalf of ALL the photographers, everywhere - not to mention... strike that ... AND to mention FREE men and women everywhere - our thanks!

Tanya-

It takes one hell of a lot of courage to stand up against Gestapo-like law enforcement officers who have turned September 11th into an excuse to run rough-shod over the US Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and the laws of common decency. Too bad the $9000.00 settlement didn't come out of the paychecks of the officers who personally
harassed you.

I'd love to see you on the network morning news programs!

Tanya -

Thank you! Your fight has helped all of us!!!

A Huge "Thank You " to all of those very, very cool APUGer's who had a big hand in the moral and mental support in this- don't even think it went unoticed in the original thread too. Especially nice is that I am so new here and yet am so welcome.

Most important is that they are "expunging" everything (this is the only thing) on my record without my lifting a finger- not even for a print. This means that I can resume traveling for photography.

FYI- The reason this is so important is that many countries will not let you enter legally even if something has been "dismissed" but still remains on your record.

I can't wait to meet the Utah APUG people tomorrow night!! See you at 7.

Thanks Again,
Tanya Ortega de Chamberlin

"Most important is that they are "expunging" everything"

Don't be surprised if in future years this stuff is still 'on the record' when you apply for credit, loans, jobs or ever have a cop snoop on his computer or you are checked out for any kind of security clearance. You are in USSUTAH, and this stuff just doesn't go away no matter what they may say.

It has happened to others who had records 'expunged, only to find out later & another locale that these records were still there & still accessible on law enforcement computers.

Am glad you beat these SoSLC types. Keep it up.

Tanya!

Way to go and stand up to The Man.

(Your fellow Salt Lake City based photographer with the '67 Volvo. You left a note on my car once. I gave you the name of a couple of local Volvo mechanics.)

Wait a minute. Two other Utah apuggers have Volvos? I have a '90 sedan I got this summer. Kind of funny.
