source for cheap b/w paper

I've been getting my cheap b/w paper from Photo Warehouse. I use it for contact sheets, work prints, etc. It runs $69.00 for 250 sheets of 8x10. does anyone know of a source for less expensive paper?

I'm in total agreement with that-- my RED safelight NEVER fogs paper

My safelights are OC, btw. Plus, the Arista brand is $3.00 more than the no-name from Ultrafine; that paper and all others I've used like my safelights

IMO the only use for OC safelights is to make it easier to see in the darkroom. Yes, it is harder to see with red, but it is a much safer light. All the European paper I use require red, plus I have always (since the 60's) used red without fogging any paper.

I agree with that and have switched from an OC to a red No1 (not 1a) safelight about a year ago. It's a much 'safer' light and just one of those things to get used to.

Red is pure red. If your safelight is any other shade it is not red.

I got my safelight from freestyle. Given the limited space in my darkroom (read: downstairs half bath), the safelight is located on top of my GraLab timer, approximately 12 inches form the nearest edge of the Arista papers I use. It might have been a rough batch of paper. But I would be more prone to look at the safelight.

It doesn't. And I have not used Ilford papers, yet. I think that comes next year. But it is a great starter paper. Prints well and is easy to work with for relatively little quid. For the more serious printer, a good test paper I suppose.

Are you kidding? Foma supplies a large amount of paper to Arista and the paper is top notch. Don't believe everything you "read in the news."

How does Arista paper compare to Ilford - quality wise?

It's has a somewhat thinner base. It's also less resistant to water, although it will not cause you any problems. Depending on the conditions, it may have a tendency to curl slightly, but it never bothered me. It also has a very nice emulsion that tones nicely. I like it.
