It is a fine processor if you do colour, and, when doing B&W you don't mind constant agitation. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles which means there is far less to break. If it does break the drums are still good for hand (or foot as in roll it on the floor w/ your foot) agitation. If you are going to go for it I can delete all posts that reference it so as to lower the level of advertising we are doing for this guy and maybe keep the cost from going up. Let me know via PM and I'll flex my super powers.

I can't believe that Kaiser sold for 46 GBP. It's almost sad how low things are going.

I know, I wish I just had put a bid on it. One thing I have noticed is Durst enlargers seem to go for a lot of money, or more than I want to bid at least.

I really like the Beseler 23CII enlargers, used them back in the early 80s, just bought one still in the box in the last few months, very reasonable, many accessories such as color heads etc. I like the fact it can handle 6x9 (2.25 x 3.25) negatives...just in case you get bit by the "folder bug", you won't have to upgrade enlargers again.

I should go in the 6xx series for the M605. (Till 6x6) If you want more professional the M805 (Till 6x9) and A.F.
Kaiser is also not bad at all. The weakest point on the M670 is the guide for setting the height. Too much plastic and they will break after some years.
Another good enlarger till 6x7 is Dunco II 67 from Germany or Kienzle (Also from Germany) and going to Czech enlargers (Meopta) Magnifax (till 6x9).

With a bit luck only a few hundred Euros and often with fine lenses like Schneider or Rodenstock.

Best regards,

Robert

In the past, whenever I've been looking to obtain necessary photo equipment, I've found that placing a 'wanted add' in the local paper has worked wonders. Got myself a Devere 504, plus lenses, beard easel and other bits for £150 ! I've also had amazing deals on cameras and other darkroom stuff, in fact it got to the point where I had to stop advertising because I was getting overwhelmed with enquires !!
Down here in Cornwall this kind of equipment is usually very thin on the ground but you'd be surprised what people have lurking in their attics and sheds etc. I would imagine the more populated areas of the country are a treasure chest - you just need to ask/advertise.

Even with pricing adjusted for demand I would expect that Kaiser to be more along the lines of 100-200GBP. Definitely a lucky bidder.

We need more people getting into darkroom printing rather than out of it. :-/

Well lets not just yet as prices will go up. Maybe after I have mine.
There was a Durst M607 that I was bidding on that went for £39 I ran out of time, my fault for trying to get a bargain, I gave someone else one!!!!

IMO Dursts are not the best value for money in the UK

Dursts are good Enlargers but seem to command a price premium over similar brands

Kaisers are nice enlargers which don't go for silly money

Meopta Magnifax 4s are good to.

If you were to get any one of these Enlargers it will do you excellent service for decades to come

The suggestion of Bills to advertise seems like a good one - there is quite an active Monochrome Group in the Northampton area.

My time will come for 5x4 but it will do for a few years for my 645 and then when I move bigger I will not feel so guilty :D
