Hey, it is like "pimp my ride", just with cameras ....

If they make a TV show of it, .... - na, I will better not even think this thought.

I have always thought a decent quality wood veneer would look interesting in place of leather on the right camera, but never did anything about it. The old rebuilt one's in the link are kind of over the top, but the scratch made mamiya body looks pretty sweet.

Agreed, the she integrated the flash shoe, viewfinder, lens and back together with some laser cut wood sheets into a very nice package. Very modular and attractive (which is a hard job when dealing with laser cut wood).

These cameras are to me, rich hipster cameras. It's more of an ornament than a tool for creating images.

I don't like the gold paint on the Welta, but I do think these are fully functional cameras. Most of these cameras look great. The veneer is well-done and actually adds something to the style of the camera. I'm happy to see someone re-working the appearance of old cameras without chopping them up or disabling them somehow.

I do wonder how some 20-something person sees them versus how I see them. They seem to be made new in my eyes, and more desirable, but like you say, less intended as a functional item and more as a decoration (not that they won't be used).

Cameras: nice. Woman: nicer.

Hipsterism be damned. I want one!

Exquisite workmanship. It would even make my worn Argus C3 look like a treasure box.
