After an evening spent quarreling with my husband, this really has gone straight to my heart......causing me to pause, cry, remember why I do love him, and cry some more.....even a long life together can be too short.

Thank you for reminding me of the truly important things in life...

Jim-

You're head has probably swollen enough with all the praise :^) so none of that!

What did you use for a shutter????? Musta been pretty quick since looks like they're wide open or nearly so...

just call me callous-

Thanks to all who have said nice things. My head would be swollen if I thought I could go out and do the same thing on purpose tomorrow. Sometimes the planets align and you just say "it's a good idea, I'm gonna go with it." Then the people are gracious and everything just works. When I got over to their home, I realized I'd forgotten the dark cloth. I had to borrow a dark sweat shirt instead. Stuff happens and you just plow on through.

Russ, shutter is a Packard. Yesterday everything seemed to work well in open shade, with my bellows factor, I was needing about 1/25th @ f6 or so. A perfect situation for that machine.

Someone had a thread a few weeks back about how sometimes you're standing outside of your own pictures looking in and sort of amazed you got them done. These are those.

Mr. Galli,

Yes indeed this is uncommon portraiture. The images are very well done and the emotions come through loud and clear. Uncommon people too. Obviously these two people still care and support one another through what ever life has brought their way and what life continues to offer.

Thoughts of comfort and prayers are offered by people they will never know. Case in point: my grandson who ends his nightly prayer with “God Bless Everyone”.
Dave and Margie are definitely in that group.

These are wonderful portraits.

I truly hope this couple spend many more years together.

I also know that photographs - especially ones of these quality - can bring true solace.

Jim, awesome. All your work with the old lenses culminates to these portraits right here. Things happen for a reason and you’ll give the best gift you can when you hand a set of prints over.

I am on record (privately) in regard to how I feel about your talents as a photographer. I am lucky enough to also have been the subject of your work. These images are moving to say the least. You take us right to the ground glass and I think we all feel a little of what you felt that day. These images also say great things about you. Your friend, Phil.

Those are really beautiful Jim.

We can spend hours, expend thousands of words across the ether about films and cameras, developers and lenses but when it comes down to the final outcome none of that matters as long as the final result is something moving and full of humanity.

Thanks for the images, but most of all thanks for sharing and caring about your friends. They will be in my prayers.

Jim, you've captured "care" in a photograph. They have each other and they live in peace. What a good looking couple too!

Post Script: From Margie. She said they both just sat and looked at the photos for a long time. Then finally with wet eyes Dave said, "man, we're gettin old, arent' we."

Jim, to compliment you on your photographic skills would so short-change you on the more important thing. Still, a beautiful set of images on a very beautiful thing...

I envy what they have...
