The scale is meters/feet and is just a conversion from feet -> meters. Whichever is more convenient for the user.

Both scales are meters-feet. The one on the left is marked "Wide Angle" and is to set the pointer on the front standard (or there should be one) to distance scale shoot that lens. The scale on the right is for the lens of longer focal length and works the same way.

Sorry if I wasnt clear. The confusion isnt what the 2 scales represent, but since this doesn't have more than one lens, how would one be expected to have the two focal lengths. I had asked if one of them was when just one of the lens elements was used.

The fun part is this lens is likely neither of these. The shutter is not original to the camera, and it sounds like that implies the lens is not either. I have not had the chance to calculate the focal length of this lens yet. Maybe tonight if I can get past some E6 problems.

Today I tried, the fitting on the camera is too small. I guess I will take some calipers and actually determine the outer diameter of it.

In the box of stuff that came with the camera I found the original guarantee / instruction card for the shutter. The instructions are the usual for this type of shutter, but below that there is an interesting paragraph regarding the release cable.

"The mechanical release supplied with this shutter is especially fitted. Similar releases not obtained from us must not be used, as they permit too great movement of the push rod, and may damage the shutter mechanism. Extra releases can be had at the regular price of $0.75."

Do we think there is any truth to this, or they just wanted their $0.75?

Unfortunately, I dont think I am going to receive a release if I mail 3 quarters to Union Square, NY.

yeah and the first 2 digits being '19' meant I couldn't forge it to try and get a warranty repair.
