He never uses a strap for anything. I don't see why this is such a huge deal. It doesn't seem like their plan was anything more than "let's go out for 20 min and shoot a roll."
It's a fun little video that I got a good chuckle out of watching him attempt things like loading film and removing the darkslide....manual metering (aside: my iphone light meter almost always agrees with my handheld).

(but for future reference, the guy on the street is Kai and the other dude is Mark) I don't know why I interpreted the question to mean which film is Mark shooting in the studio, since we don't see any shots of his results. D'oh. o\
(sometimes) Seeing him load the film was particularly cringeworthy.
