Some Good News.... Kodak sees resurgence of film

Absolutely true, John. I don't quite get all the moaning. Buy what you like and shoot some film. Why even waste time writing a diatribe about Kodak's business.

I love Tri-X and just gave B&H another order two minutes ago for another 100 rolls of 135. I'm sad about Kodachrome but I'm not going to sit here, analyze their business decisions, not buy film and then complain when it's gone. Kind of silly.

Funny you should ask; my posts to shots ratio is way down. I shoot every day... usually two formats, sometimes three, and occasionally only one. I'm way behind on processing, but once I get a few professional commitments out of the way, (and some proper plumbing done :confused I'll have lots of film to work with on cold winter evenings. (I hope that wasn't a dig, Ken. I'm not interested in a pissing match. I'm just here to learn about photography.)

Have a good time with the 8x10 in Washinton State. Those are both things I would like to experience. (8x10 and Washington State) I'm doing another nearby waterfall excursion in a couple of weeks with my 4x5. I like to tempt fate sloshing around slippery rocks with my monorail.

Of course not. And neither am I. All I seek is polite and civil discourse with mutual respect for the differing points of view of others. Fortunately only a very, very few seem to have problems with that.

Thanks! It's a solo trip through the stark eastern Palouse region of the state before the weather turns nasty. Good luck with the waterfall excursion. Post some results if things turn out well.

I have to be careful how much more I order of anything. The film is about to take over the fridge in the garage, it has already taken over the freezer in said fridge. My wine cooler fridge is full of mostly beer, with a few bottles of Bombay sapphire and Vodka. My GF is pissed, says that I shouldn't waste so much space, where will we put the food.

I filled an entire chest freezer with film, myself. It's not about rolls anymore - it's about miles.

That being said I've given a decent amount to friends who might not have access to it where they are or otherwise hadn't tried a particular film.

Nope, good deals, film that's gone or hard to fine (APX), cine rolls, etc. Good deals is a lot of it though.

I still buy fresh film from time to time though - and I still support Kodak, Fujifilm, Ilford, ADOX, and whoever else.

Girl friends are LRUs, Line Replaceable Units. It sounds like she needs to be reminded of that fact. My girl friend does not object if I fill my refrigerators with film, because she knows that photography makes me happy. She likes me to be happy. Life is good!

This week I picked up some 120 plus-x---while I was there I got a package of Ilford warm tone ,a 1 gal. pack of Ektonol WT developer and a 2 lb, Edwal sodium sulfite.
A couple of weeks ago, I picked up some FP4+ in 135, also picked up a 1 gal. Dektol, a kodalith super RT, and a Sprint speed fixer.I forgot to get a KRST,so I'll pick it up next time----unless they stop making film by then.

Then please do a favor for me the next time you go to your photo store and pick up 50 rolls of 120 Kodak UC 400, 50 rolls of 135 Kodak UC 400, 50 rolls of 120 Kodak Tri-X 320 Pan, 50 rolls of 135 Kodak HIE and 50 rolls of 135 Fuji 800 Color print film. Let me know when you will be ready to ship it to me.

I don't shoot color so I'm not really sure what might be lurking around there but I'll check.I was in a lab 3 or 4 weeks ago, and they had baskets of fuji film on the counter and I'm pretty sure they had 800 color print film,---though I wont get back there for a few weeks. also, I was under the impression that uc400 is the same film as 400HD???---I think I read that somewhere but I might be mistaken.
There is a real chance there is some MF320 tri-x, but surely not 50 rolls--maybe 10-20.

Let me make it clearer. These films are in my freezer because I bought them fresh when they were discontinued. These films are no longer available. I only keep a small stockpile of current films in the freezer in case I need a lot of one film at once.

My wife simply suggested buying a separate freezer and putting it in the garage once the amount of film in it started to grow. Picked one up on craigslist for $70. Simple solution, room for beer and other foodstuffs in the fridge.

That's what I do, no freezer required here with 10 fps on my Canon EOS-1N RS! Yesterday I dropped my film off, picked up 3 more rolls which I then dropped off this morning... Yes I should process it myself but I just don't have time right now, anyone got any bulk TIME I can put in my freezer???

Back on topic a bit, I used to shoot a lot of Kodak but since I'm NOT a bulk freezer buyer I like to walk into a store and buy a roll and locally both where I live and where I work (another city) Ilford and Fuji seem to have pretty much taken over from what was mostly Kodak 10 years ago. I used to shoot tons of Ektachrome and T-Max/Tri-X but these days its all Fujichrome and HP5/Delta. I never, ever liked Portra and don't have any inclination to try the current version. Kodak MAX pretty much turned me off Kodak color negative film.
