Some experiments with Kentmere 400 (pushed to 800 and 1600), developed in FLIC Black, White and Green

Microphen is a speed increasing developer, so good for pushing film to actually obtain a higher true speed. You'll get about 1/2-2/3 stop more speed with Microphen.

Replenished Xtol loses about 1/3 of a stop, full strength Xtol gives full speed (as does ID-11).

Thanks for that info. I always knew it was supposed to be speed enhancing, but just never have tried it. I also have not worked a whole lot with TMY2 since, until recently, the price per roll was over my budget. Years back I had a half gallon of A and B Diafine developer and would use it for Tri-X to gain a little speed. It worked miracles with that film. When I cross-contaminated the Diafine I dumped it and never did get anymore. I'm just looking to get the best 'PUSH" developer for TMY2. This thread is about pushing Kentmere 400 so I guess I kind of hijacked it and won't butt in again.

Xtol diluted 1:2 or more, or FX 37 or 39, will give higher quality pushing tabular films with less blocking up of highlights.
