The housing of this particular Plaubel Makina IIIR camera is in excellent + condition exhibiting some normal signs of use that includes some minor blemishing, scratching, brightlining, and loss of finish on the more vulnerable of surfaces. The leatherette is complete and generally unscathed though it does exhibit some minor scuffing in a few locations. The camera erects and collapses with ease and the bellows are supple and light tight. The Rapid-Compur shutter times well on all of the settings and the shutter blades are dry and free from oil contamination. The shutter cocking mechanism is fluid. The rangefinder is accurate in alignment as well as operation and the rangefinder patch is bright and contrasty. The view through the folding auxiliary finder is clean and in excellent condition. The parallax correction lever functions as it should. The folding sports finder also functions as designed. The ground-glass is clean but does exhibit some scratching. The pop-up focusing hood collapses and erects with ease and is in excellent condition. The rear protective slide-in body cap is likewise in excellent condition.
The Plaubel Anticomar 100mm f/2.9 standard lens is in excellent condition exhibiting some normal signs of use that includes some minor blemishing, scratching, brightlining, and slight loss of finish on the majority of vulnerable surfaces. The aperture ring adjusts smoothly and the aperture blades are dry and free from oil contamination. The optical glass is clean and free from fungi, haze, separation, coating flaws, and scratching. A penlight reveals some speckles of internal dust, some fine cleaning marks, and a few minor blemishes. None of these defects will have any effect upon the rendered image quality. The front Plaubel lens cap is in good condition exhibiting moderate signs of use.
The Plaubel Rapid-Weitwinkel-Orthar 73mm f/6.8 wide-angle lens is likewise in excellent condition exhibiting some normal signs of use that includes some blemishing, scratching, brightlining, and slight loss of finish on the more vulnerable of surfaces. The aperture ring adjusts smoothly and the aperture blades are dry and free from oil contamination. The optical glass is clean and free from fungi, separation, coating flaws, blemishing, and scratching. A penlight reveals some speckles of internal dust, some faint internal hazing, and a few scantly visible cleaning marks on the front element. The Plaubel Tele-Makinar 190mm f/4.8 telephoto lens is in good condition exhibiting some normal signs of moderate use that includes some blemishing, scratching, brightlining, and loss of finish on the majority of surfaces. The focus is buttery smooth and the aperture ring also adjusts smoothly. The aperture blades are dry and free from oil contamination. The optical glass is clean and free from haze, separation, coating flaws, blemishing, and scratching. A penlight reveals some speckles of internal dust, some incredibly minor spider fungi along the edge of an internal element, and a faint cleaning marks on the front element. None of these defects will have any effect on the rendered image quality. The generic lens caps exhibit moderate to heavy signs of use and the rear lens cap fits loosely. The viewfinder masks exhibit moderate signs of use but are fully functional.
The Plaubel lens hood is in good condition exhibiting some normal signs of moderate use that includes some blemishing, scratching, brightlining, and loss of finish on the majority of vulnerable surfaces. The hinged folding filter release functions appropriately and the lens hood itself is in perfect working order.
The 2 Plaubel 6x9 120 rollfilm backs exhibit varying degrees of use but are generally in good to excellent condition exhibiting some normal signs of moderate to light use that includes some blemishing, scratching, brightlining, and loss of finish on the more vulnerable of surfaces. The frame counter and advance knobs function as they should on all 2 of the film backs.
The Plaubel film-pack adapter is in good condition exhibiting some normal signs of use that includes some blemishing, scratching, and loss of finish on the more vulnerable of surfaces. The film-pack adapter is in excellent working condition.
The Plaubel flash unit is in good condition exhibiting some normal signs of use that includes some minor blemishes and slight loss of finish on the more vulnerable of surfaces. The reflector erects as it should. The battery compartment is clean and free from corrosion. Unfortunately I do not have any appropriate flash bulbs so the flash has NOT been tested for functionality. The Plaubel electronic flash adapter is in excellent cosmetic condition. The electronic flash adapter has been tested and is fully functional.
The original Plaubel literature is in good condition for its age exhibiting some tears, etc, but fully readable.
The Plaubel leather system case exhibits heavy signs of use that includes scuffing, discoloration, bumps, scratching, blemishing, and some ripped stitching. The case still stores and presents the equipment well however. . The leather carrying handle broke free from the case. It would be fairly easy to brace the handle and reattach it to the case. I’ll leave that endeavor to the next owner.
All 5 of the Plaubel filters are in excellent useable optical condition and good or better cosmetic condition.
The two silver roll films back are included, the black one in the picture went with another camera.
