Nikon DE-1 plain, non-metered finder for Nikon F2. This is the later version with the rubber light seal around the base. Good user condition. Optics are clean and clear.

$165 shipped in the US. Will consider shipping internationally at additional cost.

Nice, it always makes me wonder if those little dents were part of Nikon's manufacturing process. Just like Rollei 35's -

But why there so often.?
My cameras (35mm) get beat up on the bottom plate...at the back cover, the ends where the film roll sits, and sometimes when i am having a REAL Good Day, i bash the front of the camera into something and break a piece of glass.
I have never dented a Prism / Finder like that................... :wondering:

The aluminum (?) was very soft. Made it easy to press into shape in a mold. The slightest bump would leave a dent. Rolleiflex prism also have dents. I have British cameras that suffer from the same issue. Not a sign of hard use or abuse but just a bump. Sort of like today's car bumpers. This was a really nice prism (and F body) that sold before I even saw it or I would have bought them.

The buyer hasn't sent payment yet so, you may still have an opportunity. Standby....

I had wondered why I see so many dented DE-1 finders.
I wonder if a paintless dent repair guy (the guys who get dents out of car bodies), could fix one of these finders .

When you dent metal you stretch it out of shape. If you push it back into shape you stretch it more. So you end up with more metal in a given space then you started up with, so no you can't pound it back into shape. Having said that I had a small dent repair done by the paintless dent repair guys and they tapped, tapped, tapped it back into shape with no stretching. I watch them and was totally amazed. Do you think they will do DE-1 prisms? Then again why does it matter? The prism is fine.

Not I bought a DE-1 black back in 1977 for $42 brand new. Nobody wanted it. When my Nikon F2AS was stolen in 84 I gave it away. I never had a dent or scratch. May be the dent is only available in the chrome version.

A good PDR guy is like a magician. They make dents disappear before your very eyes.

I have no clue if they'd work on a prism, I was (half) joking. But I'll bet they could fix something like this pretty easily.

$165 for a dented one? How much would an un-dented one be worth? Chrome or black? Asking for a friend...
