I put my Leica M240 on Ebay and was continually getting false bids from scammers. Typical bid was by e-mail and not the "buy" button on the Ebay site. The e-mail typically added, "please contact me @______, I have some questions". I responded to each one by telling them if they wanted to buy, hit the buy button on Ebay. I never had a further response to any of them. I did sell it by the way. So, warning: Do not respond to emails making so called offers and asking for an e-mail response. The are phishing.This was sold last summer, but because the buyer tried to scam me via complaints with both eBay and PayPal, it was returned to me and the scammers lost their money!

Does not eBay purge messages that contain personal contact information such as email addresses? Ebay has an option: message to seller. It was not to my personal e-mail.Does not eBay purge messages that contain personal contact information such as email addresses? How did these scammers' messages get through to you?
