After 40 years in the business I have retired and starting to sell my Leica collection. I would like to sell the collection as a whole rather than piece by piece. That is why I have attached a complete list of inventory. The camera bodies have received a CLA by Youxin Ye as stated on the inventory page except for the M5 which was CLA by Leica New Jersey. The M5 is not converted to the current battery as I always used a hand held Gossen meter and never used the battery/meter system since I bought it new in 1973. The bodies and lenses are in excellent condition. Vulcanite all intact. I am looking for $10,000 or best offer for the complete kit. I will cover the paypal fee and Cont.USA shipping via USPS and/Or UPS. Insurance to be covered by purchaser. Please contact me with any questions . I am located between Hudson and Albany New York.

I have reviewed the asking price and decided to reduce it to $10,000. The original asking was based on the retail values of each individual piece. To purchase the kit there should be some dramatic savings. I was never very good at salesmanship.
I will post images of the M3 and M4 later today or tomorrow.

Images of the M4 and M3 have been added to the start page. The kit includes 13 lenses as listed on the inventory page . I have added images of two lenses here. A Summicron 50mm rigid and a Summicron 50mm collapsible. If you want to see any of the other lenses available please let me know and I will make them available.

No one seams to want to purchase the whole collection (at least on this site) . I have received low ball offers from others. The current economy may have something to do with this. Many have said it's a great collection but that is as far as it goes. I did not want to break up the collection and sell each piece but I guess that is the other option. I will be posting the cameras individually soon and we'll see what happens. At that time I will close this page.

David, Any collection is a hard sell. Sometimes as users we end up with multiple lenses over time, but at current values $10k is a lot of money to drop. Leica users have a camera and lens or two and are looking to add individual pieces. Someone with no Leicas is unlikely to drop $10k on a bundle, unless they're flush and looking for a new film camera and lens or a Leica M-11. I'm sure you realize that individually you'd be able to sell these items.

I agree with Greg. One of the primary reasons you see people on Ebay breaking apart collections. They are harder to sell as a complete kit, plus they end up making more by splitting them up. If you want to keep it together, you could always sell to someone that will resell the items. You'll make less of course, but if you want them gone in one shot that's sadly one of the few routes that might work.

The fact is, this collection, even at the original price, could have been resold on a single-item basis, and made a decent amount of money for the buyer. At current Leica M prices, this collection at $10000 is a gift.

If I had the money, I'd buy it in a second.

Yes, the price is reasonable.... but who 'needs'. 6x 50mm lenses, 4x90mm lenses & 6x lightmeters?...... it really is a collection for a retailer.

Update on the M5 camera. I just purchased a Wein Cell MRB625 1.35 volt battery and installed it. The light meter works. This is after not being used ( the built in light meter) since 1973 (50 years ago) when I bought the camera . I have always used a hand held Gossen light meter . This is a testament to the quality of the M5 which has been short changed for many years.

Last call on the collection. I have found a retailer who is ready to purchase the collection . (I have removed the M5 and 35mm Summicron and 90mm Tele Elmarit from the sale as I have decided to keep them for myself) If I don't hear from anyone today I will proceed with the sale
