B&J Press Camera w/case & film holders - $95 plus shipping (continental US only)
B&J Press Camera – 2¼ x 3¼ – date unknown.
Lens: 101mm Wollensak f/4.5 with Rapax Shutter. Shutter sounds accurate, but cleaning and calibrating is a good idea on any older shutter. Lens is clear. The lens/shutter assembly includes a solenoid for the flash. There are no connecting cords, though.
As with all press cameras of this type, there are movements on the front standard only – front rise and tilt and lateral shift.
Overall the camera is in good condition. Focusing and movements are smooth. Bellows in good condition. Tripod sockets on bottom and left side. One of the rubber feet on the bottom plate is missing.
9 film holders and one film pack holder.
Flashbulb handle with polished reflector with 2 adapters for smaller flashbulbs.
Heavy duty wooden carrying case. Needs repainting, as can be seen in the photos. The case is solid and the latches work.
This camera belonged to my father. I used it myself in recent years as a field camera using the sheet film holders and the groundglass for focusing.
I am now in my mid-70s and am no longer shooting sheet film, so I wanted to pass this camera along to someone who would continue to enjoy this slice of photographic history and give the camera more years of loving care. (2¼ x 3¼ B&W film is still available at Freestyle)
