Solar Plates In-camera?

I'm at work killing time... and I have a question:

Can solar plates be used in-camera, like film? Would it work with a long exposure and halftone screen?

... I could use a UV torch and 'paint' the object

Exposures would probably take hours/days. (what was I thinking?)
