So... who switched to AF/modern film cameras?

I used canon eos 1000 , my second japanese camera in my life and it took blue trees at the shadow , I kicked its ass. I saw few pentax 67 shots and mamiya shots were reasonable but not a Leica cant do.
I have Leica mini zoom and mini 2 and trying to do my best.I found a new job at an hospital and few months later , I will buy a barnack body and roosinov wide angle lens. And I will buy a kiev 60 and a square front anamorphic cine lomo lens. Than I will never buy a camera in my life.

I own a F4 that was given to me after a guy here at work retired. You know.. The FE gets sharper images than the F4. It's wierd. Obvisouly the AF is more snappier in regards to focus but I was just not pleased with sharpness.

I'll check it out.. It's not off by much. I don't it's a lens issues , cause I use lenses on FE with no problem. Should I take my F4 with me to big trip?

You may also want to consider getting a K or a P screen. Unfortunately, they're not cheap, but you'll have the same focusing aid that you do on your FE.

I checked out Diopter in my F4.. It was a little off and played with auto focus.. Seems to be fine. I'll toss in my bag as a backup camera for trip.

It's worth remembering that autofocus technology on film cameras is typically 15 - 20 years behind AF on d*g*t*l. I use manual and auto focus, but it won't keep pace with a modern DSLR.

My EOS 3 has a better autofocus system than my 5Dii.

My F5 doesn't have the multiple points of a DSLR AF system but you'll need to spend a good bit of coin to match the speed and accuracy.

I haven't made the jump to autofocus, largely because if it's anything like the AF on my smartphone, I'd rather hit myself in the head repeatedly with a hammer, and I like to decide what I want in focus, rather than what the AF system calculates is my point of interest. I've got aperture priority on my Zenit 18 and Chinon CE-4, and that is genuinely useful for me, so I'm happy enough with those gizmos, esp. as the Chinon has a very handy AE lock and multi-exposure function. It's the most advanced film eating thing I've ever had

Depends on the camera. Cameras like the Nikon F100, F5, etc, have fantastic AF systems and are NOTHING like camera phones and P&S cameras.

You can consider Canon Eos 3 or 1V. I just got myself a Eos 1V-HS and it's a wonderful camera.

I went the opposite way, started with AF SLRs from Canon. Then when digital more or less took over I transitioned to that route.

So when I started making my way back to film I of course grabbed my AF SLRs but quickly realized that I wanted to slow down with my film work and let it become more intentional rather than spontaneous.

I moved towards a long series of manual focus SLRs and eventually wound up with an F and F2 from nikon that are keeping me pretty happy.
