So I was thinking....How about a DarkBox ?

All,
The woman is starting to get tired of there being black marine vinyl on the Development...err...Bathroom window and on the Printing/Kitchen Windows....So I had a thought today.
Has anyone made a dark box ? Basically I am thinking of making a box out of some 1/4" ply or MDF, that has rails on the inside of it to hold three print/development trays (dev/stop/fix). On the door of this box, I was thinking of mounting some cuffs, like those found on a darkbag. This would allow me to develop film at any time (or anywhere for that matter....), and it would also allow me to store my trays in a place where they wouldn't be prone to dust/dirt setteling in them all the time.
Thoughts ?

How about this as an alternative?

Use the plywood to build the little lady a bathroom of her own, outside? That would allow you to continue using the "darkroom" as it is.

On second thought, that might not work. Chances are, she'd get the house in the divorce, anyway.

Sometimes you can find changing boxes like you describe for sale cheap, but they would probably be too small. They are used by minilabs.

Since you're building one, how about putting a red plexiglass window on the top (or just a clear plexiglass window with a sheet of Rubylith over it)?

Wouldn't that fog the film ? I was always used to developing film in total darkness, and never messed with dev by inspection...So please forgive my ignorance.

Like, duh... I thought this was for developing prints. Sorry about that. You would need a green filter anyway for film, and you could only have the film exposed to light briefly for a few seconds at a time, which wouldn't work so well if you've got both hands in the box.
