So...anyone want a minilab?

I purchased a minilab off of a gent locally last year, and he's contacted me to ask if I'd be interested in the other one has. I haven't been able to set up the first minilab I bought (wait, why did I even buy a minilab?) so it's been in storage. So I can't take it. Is anyone here interested? I can put you in contact with him. He's not far out of Adelaide, South Australia.

It is a Digital minilab Agfa MSC 200.d with 2 kiosks prints all digital files up to 8x12 inches and as well 35mm and 120mm films ( has all the lenses and many paper magazines)
The machine was not in use for about 3 years but has been cleaned and I still store it inside my house in great condition!

I've seen the machine, he was asking a lot more at the time I went to pick up the other minilab I purchased. I can vouch for the condition, at least as of a year ago - it's sitting in his living room. I don't want to take away his right to barter, but the price is under $400. If you're interested I can give you his email and you can discuss it.
His family is growing and I get the feeling if he doesn't sell it, it'll simply go to the dump. A full digital colour lab in your living room isn't really viable when you need the room for your kids.

Wondering if it'd suit just as a quality film scanner. Thoughts?

I'm sure it'd be quite a good film scanner, but it's also quite massive. I'm not sure what sort of technology is used to scan in minilabs, but it'd be probably 5-8 years outdated by now.

I've always wondered... I see full mini-labs on ebay for next to nothing, something that would have cost $20-30k back in the film days being sold for < $1k.

Every time I see one of those adds come up, I'd say "if only I had the space", anyway it's a bit of an insane idea (buying a minilab for personal use), but I respect the desire to do so, and I've love to hear how you go with it. I'd be interested to know how much they cost to run, how much chemistry you need / throughput to make it efficient, and what the heck you do if something breaks!?

I have an answer for at least the last question The minilab I bought was more two minilabs. The gentleman I purchased it from had the foresight to buy a second one and portion it out to parts. So I have replacements for everything, and more boxes than you can poke a stick at. It resides at my dad's while I'm attending university in the city, so my old bedroom is just full of boxes of pieces of Fuji machinery.

I admit I have no idea when or how I'll use it, or even exactly why. But it was $2.

If it were close by I'd most likely grab it up. I think its just a tad out of my 2 hour drive limit(what I consider reasonable gas and time expendature)shipping would be unbearable.
