Smooth paper for cyanotype.

Does anybody know the name of a good brand of relatively inexpensive art paper for making cyanotypes that isn't heavily textured? Ta!

I've liked Weston Diploma Parchment. Its a light weight, warm-tone paper. But I understand it may have changed while under new ownership, so testing is advisable.

I received as part of an email message from the f295 group a note pertaining to the weston diploma paper. the company was sold recently but the new owners are more than interested in keeping this paper working for the alternate community...here is the info:

Arches 'hot pressed' has worked for me....

Bienfang 360 - it is a very light vellum that works well for Cyanotypes. Rather fragile, though, compared to watercolor papers - but a whole lot cheaper.

I used some arches 90lb. hot press watercolor paper and it worked out beautifully. Its nice and cheap, too, for 22x30" (or whatever they are, something close) sheets.

I only use Strathmore 400 Drawing. It is smooth. It holds up well. It is _cheap_. I use 4x5 negatives, and just pick up the 4x6 pads of paper. I don't even cut or trim them. Also, I coat with a foam brush.

This is all quite ironic to me because when I print Van Dyke Brown;
The Strathmore doesn't work (bleeds through) and the foam brush rips the paper apart.
I need to use Cranes Kid Finish Ecru and a cheap 1" flat watercolor brush.

In both cases I add a drop or two of glycerin to the solution. It helps with coating, at least in my situation but that is probably OT.

Arches Aquarelle Hot Press

This paper is bomb for C-types. Great wet strength, smooth finish, and a super deep blue make it my media of choice when I get the 'blues'

The woman in the shop said it was pretty much the same as Arches. I've found a place locally that does the Arches Hot Pressed. Will try the two for comparison, the Daler stuff works out quite less expensive.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were in the UK. Strathmore 400 might be tough to find over there. I recommended it because it is cheap and easy to find over at this side.
