Hi!

Anybody with experience with selenium toning for Fomabrom Variant III? I use Kodak Rapid Selenium, and just wondered if some have testet, dilution and time, for maximum black (not color shift)?

Thanks!

I pour two small capfulls in about a liter of water - and the change is pretty rapid, within 5-30 seconds for RC paper.

It seems to rock in cycles. I usually try to catch the uptick of the first cycle for maximum black. After that, the image will become a little muddy, and then clarify again, and then become muddy again, untill it will fail to clarify all together.

I usually found less is more with Selenium.

ymmv so you may have to print about 5 - 10 test strips of the same zone 1 - 3 area and test at various intervals, say, every 30 - 45 secs for krst at 1:20 ish... once you do the test and inspect the results you can add it to your rock solid workflow ;P

I found out that 1:20 of KRST in 4 minutes gave me perfect results. Wow, the blacks are really deep now and no noticeable colorshifts . Fomabrom Variant III is a wonderful paper! I finally found out how to get the best out of it for my taste
