This is so sad what is happening to legacy companies like Kodak ,Agfa, Konica among others , I think the they could saved these companies like they did with General Motors countless of times !!

The photo companies didn’t have the number of employees, impact on the global economy, or political horsepower that the auto industry has.

Not to mention that the automotive industry has a perspective of some kind. Silver halide film and paper don't, at least not in the magnitude that applied when these companies needed saving.
Btw, keep in mind that Fuji saved themselves very effectively. Agfa saved themselves a bit, in a similar way, but less successfully. Arguably the same can be said for Kodak.

This is creative destruction; the old makes room for the new. That's why you don't even want to save the old stuff as it just locks up resources (capital, labor) that can yield better societal returns than dedicating them to dwindling industries. This may sound harsh, but that's industrial evolution for you; there's winners and there's losers.
