SITE UPGRADES STILL IN PROGRESS

Hi All,

the framework of our site software has been upgraded but there is a LOT of work that needs to be done over the next several days. I would have liked to relaunch having more completed but am out of gas. The basics of APUG should be operations. Known bugs will be:

Navigation not 100% completed
Problems with links area
some items no longer existing (many will be ported)
chatroom does not have a popup window yet (still the old chatroom for now)
new helpdesk and knowlege base needs work but the shell is in place
Sponsors page is not up yet
new posts are showing posts from all languages, can fix that later
reply with quote coding isn't working properly -fixed

Things to note right off would be your sidebar placement is now an option in your user preferences. Also, in your preferences "user options" you will find at the bottom the new forum visibility mode, simply highlight the forums you want to ignore and save. *update* forum visibility isn't working, will have to take a look tomorrow.

I'm sure I a missing quite a bit but just be patient over the next several days and everything will fall into place.

Save doesn't seem to work having done changes in the edit visibility mode, even with logging off and on again.

BTW, it looks nice as far as I've seen! Thumbs up!

Haven't been able to spend much time looking around yet- but I'm sure it's gonna be great.

I don't know if this is a known bug- (or even if it's a bug) but after I enter the first page of info for an upload, (the attachment address, picture title, etc) and hit submit, A page is displayed with an advertisers info on it- seems to be a different advertiser each time. Appears to terminate the attempt to upload images.

Not sure if you know Sean, but the Gallery is not working....

[Edit 2: nope - gorn agin... Images loading about 1 time in 10 tries ]
[Edit 3: Now working fine...]

Main site working on all cylinders as far as I can see.

"New Posts" threw me for a minute, but I quickly adjusted

Great job, Sean! But the one feature of the old forum that I used the most--under Thread Tools, the ability to IGNORE THIS THREAD--is missing. Hope it will be reinstated! (Not for this thread, of course!)

Sean, I too am having trouble pulling up the gallery and even before you commenced you recent site upgrades, I could not down load pictures from computer. Any advise to fix it on my end woiuld be appreciated. Thank you again, Jon

I've cleared the cache and the image display is intermittent. Sometimes I get the image displayed, the majority of the time I get a sponsors link.

Weird. When using IE I can access the Galleries with no problem. With firefox, I get this when trying to enter the Standard Gallery:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

The Critique Gallery works fine withy both browsers.

Dear Sean,

Anyone who appreciates the site -- and it's one of the finest sites on the web, one in a million or maybe a billion -- will be more than happy to forgive temporary glitches, even if they take many days to resolve.

It's frightening, doing this sort of thing, but it has to be worth it.

I am very happy with the way APUG is going and the new upgrade looks great. I can't wait to have it all properly working!
I have had trouble uploading a jpeg photo as an attachment to a forum post and I get the gallery trouble the Banana mentioned.

I'm now having gallery problems as well. Strange because it was fine this morning (and presumably Sean is still asleep)

I wonder if there is a cache issue with FireFox? Oh well. Clicking on My Photos doesn't work anymore. And clicking on the thumbnails next to the "last commented on" quotes doesn't as well.

I've posted and edited a couple of times and everything seems good there.
