Hi,

For those who are interested on the development of the site, I thought I would discuss a few things in the works.

Forum Upgrade- version 1.2 of the invisionboard forum software will be in beta by Easter. Gold version should follow soon after. We need version 1.2 to purchase the new integrated chat module. The integrated chat is VERY slick (I've used the demo). The forum home page will show who is in the chat, and there is 1-click entry to the chat with auto-logon using your forum logon credentials.

The APUG Gallery- I am currently evaluating a 3rd party gallery module. It appears to be a GREAT script! It fully integrates with the forum software. So basically we will have another forum category called The APUG Gallery. When you go into this category it has the appearance of an image gallery within the current forum interface, rather than a typical thread list. Members can then add images as simply as making a forum post, and commenting on images is just like making a forum post. I think it's exactly what we need.

Since there is no official ETA on the forum software upgrade to 1.2, I'll probably put in the gallery module first. Mainly because I am finding it increasingly hard to manually add images to the current system! I have 10 days off in a few weeks, so will probably install the gallery then. The module is a 1 off $200 cost. We've got around $100 in the apug account available for misc purchases. I am willing to put in another 50 towards the script. So between all of us I'm sure we can scrape together another 50.
As for the chat module, it's a yearly subscription of $100, but we have plenty of time before that's needed.

I think we're on our way to having a more user friendly apug. I'll post any updates of progress to this thread. Thanks, Sean

I'm going to purchase the gallery module and install it the weekend of the 18th. It's 200 US dollars, I put in 50 which brings us to 170 for it so far. If anyone has a spare 5 bucks you can go to the apug homepage, scroll to the bottom, and click the donation link. I'll come up with the rest if I have to. Thanks, Sean
