Sistan buried ?

With the end of Agfa, Sistan was also buried ? I can prepare Rodinal (so it is not buried ) but Sistan ...
Does somebody know or presume its composition ?

According to the Agfa MSDS Sistan is composed of 15 - 20% potassium thiocyanate and 5 - 10% Triton 2000. The Triton 2000 is a surfactant. The actual image preservation is done by the thiocyanate. Both chemicals are readily available.

That 15 - 20% must be in the concentrate. That is 150 - 200 g/liter which is the level used in many fixers. You have to figure out the concentration of the working solution.

Be careful, at that level you posted, the solution would ruin prints.

Surfactant is the fancy name for soap. You may have a foaming problem with that much soap in a solution.

Triton being a brand name for Rohm and Haas products.

Sistan is very much alive in Europe as are all of Agfa's chemicals - the situation in Brazil may be another matter. Check out some of the older threads on APUG especially about A&O - the company now making the Agfa chemistry.
