Hi all, simple question...

Sinar Binocular Reflex Viewing Hood......will this attachment only work for landscape ground glass orientation on my Sinar F2....if so can anyone recommend something that works for this camera to get 'right way up' viewing of the image in portrait orientation too

Thanks!

Thanks Tom yes that's the item I was describing....there's a few of them available on eBay etc......I would like to know if can it ONLY be used in landscape orientation.....I shoot portrait orientation 99% of the time....thus I would want one that can give me a right way up viewing for portrait format

I hope you find your perfect reflex viewer. Even if you get a "Landscape only" viewer, the Sinar F back allows you to rotate it 90° if the viewer is mounted on the ground glass. I've been shooting 4x5 for decades and I still have problems in seeing an upside down image. When I shot commercially, I depended a lot on Polaroids to see the image right side up. Now I'm just too old to change where I could learn to see the image rotated 180° in my head.

Cheers to a fellow Sinar shooter!

hi Stephen

it works in any orientation including upside down
apart from being a bit big they are excellent
you can also adjust the mirror to get a brighter picture at the top or bottom as you focus using the little black knob on the side
silver lever flips the magnifiers out of the way if you have eyeglasses ... you can also get lenses with your prescription if you do

i only wish the 10x8 version was a bit more common I've only seen one and its not for sale ...

best
