What draws you to the Rolleicord Vb in particular?

I don't have a Leica II, but I have an early FED-1 which is a Leica II copy. I like it a lot, because it's small, lightweight, and has the essential features that I want. In some ways, I like it better than my genuine Leica 3F, which is slightly larger, and which has a number of features that I never use.

Have never shot with any Rolleicord, save for the III, which was one of the first cameras that my folks let me use. I still have it, though I admit that it's been years since I've done anything with it.

The Rolleicord Vb has a simplistic design, A Hasselblad is a systems camera.

Like SG, I have used my Hasselblad hand held (first, unlamented 1000F, later 2000FCM and 500 CM) except when using heavy 300mm Olympic Sonnar. I also use Rollei TLR, as well as several folders: Fuji GF670, Makina 67, and Super Ikonta B. I would rate Hassy most versatile, and SI B as most discreet. All take excellent pictures.

I really hate to be that guy, but, to my great regret, I can't help myself, 'cause this one drives me crazy.

I know English isn't everyone's first language, and both native and non-native speakers use words the way they hear others use them, so no offense intended to anyone. But the word 'simplistic' does not mean simple. It means dumbed down. It's properly used in reference to ideas or arguments and means "treating complex issues or problems as if they are simpler than they really are".

I really don't understand why 'simplistic' is increasingly being used as a replacement for 'simple'. The word 'simple' is perfect and has been for centuries. It's shorter. Everyone knows what it means. It's a great word. Let's keep using it.

These cameras have a simple design.

I prefer to think of the Rolleicord Vb design as ELEGANT. That avoids negative connotations associated with the words "simple" and "simplistic"... which some simpletons associate with those words.

But, literally, doesn't the thread title refer to your thought processes rather than the actual camera design?

You are correct and perhaps I should have said these cameras are simple in their design configuration. I did not want to say just simple, as it suggests they are of inferior quality, if you get my drift.

Stated symplistically, it's simply syllabic inflation, a common malady (and hard to hum). 😉

Have you considered using an Iambic Pentameter?

There's no such thing as a perfect or even "best" camera, only, and this not always, the camera that's best for a certain photographer for a certain use. (If all uses for that photographer are the same or very similar then there may be a best for that photographer, of course.)
