Simple question regarding filters

I have a stack of Polarizer and ND filters from my film camera. Can I use them for my digital cameras?
I had one friend say no. I have to use "Digital" filters. The thought of buying a whole another set really makes my wallet cringe.
What can you share with me?

You can use those on your digital camera.

There is one school of thought that says, analog polarizer will not work, but I know several people who don't use the clp with but do use the other no issues.

Reminds me of all those books that now say Digital, etc rather than film, and for the most part it is the same (except for WB, and no need to change film in the middle of a roll to adjust for ISO )

To reinforce what ann said, if your polarizers are linear polarizers, they *may* cause issues with the AF systems on modern digital SLR's. But if they worked with AF film slr's, then you're probably OK. Circular polarizers are OK everywhere. ND have no issues either, but all filters are subject to the same considerations (coatings, flare resistance, difficulty metering and focusing if using an ND in very low light, etc.) on film or digital.

if they physically fit, you can use them, and you'll see their affect right away, which may be different;so what?

That's what I figure. I have Hoya and B&W rotating polarizer filters and the thought of buying a "Digital" one made Me wonder why? I rather save my bucks for some other goodie.
