I have an Ilex #5 in overall good shape. Shutter is responsive, times are reasonably accurate -- but some of the movements can be improved. I sent a message to Grimes but it's been a week, and I haven't heard back. Carol Flutot sounds completely overwhelmed. I sent a message to Richard Ritter -- I know it's not his specialty, but he's done good work for me before. I haven't heard back from him either (though that was only a couple days ago).

I'm looking for other recommendations. Thanks.

Any professional camera repairman should be able to do that kind of a job. It is a basic service job. I have mine done by Steve Choi at Steve's Camera Repair in Culver City CA

Frank Marshman purchased the entire stock of spare Ilex parts when the factory closed. He no longer has his repair business storefront but does shutter CLAs and certain other repairs from his home.

I always send mine to SK Grimes. Usually a 2-3 week turnaround. Always responds to my Emails.

I have messages in to all four recommendations. My issue with Flutot's isn't the quality of their work, but that I need something back in a couple weeks. She looks to have a six to eight week turnaround at the moment.

Thanks everyone.

Well when Carol was sick she still continued to work the best that she could and the waiting period was months, but I still felt that it was worth the wait.

You don't wait till you "need something back in a couple of weeks" to send it in, because most repair shops have a backlog as you're finding out.

Thanks for your concern, but there's more to it than that and it's not a matter of procrastinating. They can't all be two months out.

Why not, If they are any good? And as Sirius Glass mentioned, they do, sometimes get sick, and I'll add that if they are smart, they will take a week or two vacation now and then to try to keep from getting sick....Regards!

Point taken. It's actually just the estimate I need up front, not the work. I bought a shutter off of eBay which had issues, and I'm trying to get a repair estimate so I can negotiate with the seller. I only have so many days per eBay to settle an issue -- hence the urgency.

KEH might be another possibility.
But any of them could probably take a look and get you an estimate within the time period you need, if you explain the situation.
You probably need to be prepared to either fedex or drive it to wherever.

KEH can get backed up. I had to wait a while for two Hasselblad lenses to be CLA'd at KEH.
