My old behind got invited to a punk show and I have some 3200 that I want to use up. The highest ISO setting on my Olympus only goes to 1000. I know it is actually an 1000 speed film. I've heard that it should be shot at 1600 and developed at 3200.

Having said all that. I am thinking of setting it to 1000 and overexpose it by one stop.

Good plan?

That's fine. As 1000 is the correct speed for this film then I think you can develop it for the times stated for 1000.

Does your camera allow for an over exposure setting above iso speed? You may need a faster shutter speed. From memory punk gigs tend to involve a lot of jumping around.Sound like fun, who's headling?

It doesn’t. I’ve got a pretty fast lens so it should be good.

I can’t print the names of the bands because I think it violates the rules. Bunch of young kids that revived the scene. Good thing about the bar I frequent it is a cross section of everyone. State legislators, young punks, professional people. I get to meet a bunch of good people that when you get older don’t normally meet. It keeps me grounded.

Set it at 1000, go into the mosh pit, meter the palm of your hand and use that exposure directly.
Normal practice when metering your hand is to open up one stop from the reading. Since 1000 is already "over" you can take the palm reading directly.

This has the benefit that you will properly expose the people. I assume that's what you'll be taking pictures of.

If you want to include people on stage, go up on stage yourself and take a meter reading to use for stage shots. (Maybe unrealistic - just take a reading in the spotlight if you can ever get the spot on you. They sometimes aim at the audience).

Cool thanks for the tip. I bounced around the bar and outside shooting. Didn't get around the stage to much because of the layout of the bar.

The OM-1 MD has a top ASA/ISO setting of 1600. Does yours not work above 1000?

Sooo about that. It does. Mea cupla. I've been shooting my Minolta Autocord so much I thought it topped out at 1000.
